#AASChat Twitter Topic for April 21st “Breastfeeding as a Surgeon”

Join us on Thursday, April 21st at 9 PM ET on Twitter @AcademicSurgery.

Our popular #AASChat series will be led by Drs. Alexis Colley and Tasce Bongiovanni. The topic of discussion will be Breastfeeding as a Surgeon, and the chat questions that will direct the conversation will include:

Question 1: What is (or was) your experience with breastfeeding and/or pumping as a surgeon or surgeon in-training?

Question 2: Did you (or did you feel pressured to) stop breastfeeding before you were ready because of the demands of your work? Have you felt pressured to work beyond a time that you would otherwise leave to pump?

Question 3: To what degree can the culture of surgery support learners or faculty who are lactating?

Question 4: What support structures (if any) for lactation have been established by your department or program? What other structures or practices would you suggest?

Join the conversation on Thursday the 21st, beginning at 9pm!
