Congratulations to the New Journal of Surgical Research Statistics Editors

We are pleased to announce that Molly Jarman, PhD, MPH, and Adan Becerra, PhD, have been selected to serve as Statistics Editor for the Journal of Surgical Research (JSR); they will be joining our current Statistics Editor, Mazen Zenati, MD, MPH, PhD.

Dr. Jarman is an Instructor at Harvard Medical School and an Investigator in the Center for Surgery and Public Health at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She has expertise in health behavior and health policy, and substantial experience in quantitative science using electronic health records, health care administrative data, and other secondary data sources. Dr. Jarman is an accomplished investigator with a particular interest on the health impacts of policies related to trauma care and emergency medical systems. She currently serves as a member of the AAS Program Committee and as a member of the Literature Review Committee of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

Dr. Becerra is an Assistant Professor and Associate Program Director for Clinical Research in the Department of Surgery at Rush University Medical Center. He has expertise in causal inference, Bayesian multilevel models, machine learning, and survival analysis. Dr. Becerra’s research has focused on outcomes in surgical oncology, particularly in patients with colorectal cancer. He recently served as a Senior Epidemiologist for Social & Scientific Systems, an influential public health service organization that provides research and analytic support to the National Institutes of Health and other agencies within the US Department of Health & Human Services.

Scott A. LeMaire, MD, is the Jimmy and Roberta Howell Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery, the Vice Chair for Research in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, the Director of Research in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Professor of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at Baylor College of Medicine, as well as a Physician Associate in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Texas Heart Institute and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. LeMaire is a past-president of the Association for Academic Surgery and is the current editor-in-chief of the Journal of Surgical Research.
