JSR Announces New Associate Editor for Acute Care Surgery

We are pleased to announce that Stephanie Bonne, MD, has been selected to serve as new Associate Editor for the Acute Care Surgery section of Journal of Surgical Research (JSR).

 Dr. Bonne is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School, where she also serves as Trauma Medical Director for the University Hospital – Newark. Her academic interests include the violence prevention, urban public health, and trauma epidemiology. Her work on injury prevention has been funded by the State of New Jersey, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, the New Jersey Office of Victims of Crime, and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma. A current JSR Editorial Board member, Dr. Bonne has also served on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Surgery, including as the Senior Editor for the journal’s Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) issue. Dr. Bonne currently serves as Chair of the American Medical Women’s Association Gun Violence Task Force, Co-chair of the American Public Health Association’s Public Health Partnership for the Prevention of Firearm Violence, and the AWS Representative to the American College of Surgeons. For the Association for Academic Surgery, she has served as a member of the Clinical Health Sciences Research Committee and the Leadership Committee.

Dr. Bonne will be joining our team of Acute Care Surgery Associate Editors—Drs. Suresh Agarwal, Weidun Alan Guo, Alicia Mohr, and Mayur Patel—as Dr. Catherine Velopulos completes her term in the role. Dr. Velopulos has served as an Associate Editor since 2019 and will continue to contribute to JSR as a member of our Editorial Board.

Scott Lemaire, MD

Scott A. LeMaire, MD, is the Jimmy and Roberta Howell Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery, the Vice Chair for Research in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, the Director of Research in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Professor of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at Baylor College of Medicine, as well as a Physician Associate in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Texas Heart Institute and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. LeMaire is a past-president of the Association for Academic Surgery and is the current editor-in-chief of the Journal of Surgical Research.
