Congratulations to the New Associate Editor for the Cardiac Surgery Section of the Journal of Surgical Research

We are pleased to announce that Ravi K. Ghanta, MD, has been selected to serve as new Associate Editor for the Cardiac Surgery section of Journal of Surgical Research (JSR).

Dr. Ghanta is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, where he also serves as the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Ben Taub Hospital. His academic interests include immune-engineering to treat ischemic cardiomyopathy and leveraging data science to improve clinical outcomes. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, the Thoracic Surgery Foundation, and the American Association of Thoracic Surgery Graham Foundation. Dr. Ghanta is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and the Journal of Heart Valve Disease, and he recently completed a term as Associate Editor for Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He also serves on the Advisory Council for Cardiothoracic Surgery for the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Ghanta will be taking over the Cardiac Surgery section from Dr. Craig Selzman, who has served as Associate Editor for this section since 2013. We are greatly indebted to Dr. Selzman for his decade of dedicated service to JSR.
