Introducing the AAS Aspiring Leaders Development Program

The Association for Academic Surgery is pleased to present the Aspiring Leaders Development Program. This 12-month mentorship program is designed to engage high-potential academic surgeons to develop and implement leadership competencies, supported with associated high quality mentorship, in order to impact personal, team and organizational goals.

For our inaugural 2018 program, we’ve assembled a fantastic roster of potential mentors:

Adam Berger, MD
Herbert Chen, MD
Clifford Cho, MD
Justin Dimick, MD
Adil Haider, MD MPH
Lillian Kao, MD
Melina Kibbe, MD
Scott Lemaire, MD
Tim Pawlik, MD MPH PhD

The program runs for 12 months, beginning at the 2018 American College of Surgeons 2018 Clinical Congress, and ending at the 2019 ACS a year later; it creates a formalized mentorship relationship with a senior-level US surgeon, giving the recipients the opportunity for regular interaction, both in person and by phone, with their appointed mentor, and can also attend the AAS Early Career Development Course, held the Saturday October 20, one day prior to the 2018 ACS.

Applications are being accepted now through April 1, 2018 – for more information and to apply online, please visit www.aasurg.org/aspiringleaders/
