Surgery is one of the great loves of my life. I love the excitement of the operating room and camaraderie. It is my goal to make sure that everyone feels included and welcome into that space. Moreover, I an grateful to all of the mentors who took the time to teach me and create a space for me. And I want to create that space for others as well. However, I am aware that safe spaces do not develop naturally. I wish to be on a national committee with members that use evidence and data to drive forward with diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. I want to strategize and collaborate with others on this issue. And I want to learn so that I can take these strategies back to my home program and improve the work environment and experiences of the residents.
