I am an academic endocrine surgeon at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA where my research focuses on the implementation of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) to improve the quality of surgical care. I am interested in serving on the DEI Committee because I was fortunate to have LGBTQ role models during my surgical training, which encouraged me to be more confident and open with myself. I hope that my active participation in this Committee will allow future generations of academic surgeons to feel safe in being their true selves.
