Candidate Member

University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine

General Surgery, Cardiac/Thoracic Surgery, Thoracic Surgery

I am a preliminary general surgery resident intern at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine, seeking a committee position for diversity, equity, and inclusivity and membership. I am deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. My experience as a Health Equity and Advocacy Student Advisory Council member and my ability to listen empathetically and communicate effectively across diverse communities enable me to create strategies that promote equity and inclusion. I am passionate about celebrating diversity and cultivating a sense of belonging for all.

I discovered and joined AAS last year upon an invitation to present my research at the annual conference in Washington, DC. Ever since I have wanted to be actively involved in the organization, and serving on the membership committee will offer the avenue to do so. I am proactive and have strong organizational skills and a genuine passion for community building. My experiences and ability to connect effectively with others will help drive membership growth and retention. I am committed to fostering a welcoming environment that encourages participation and strengthens our community. Additionally, my proactive approach and dedication to teamwork will contribute to the committee's goals and overall success.
