Massachusetts General Hospital

Vascular Surgery

As a third-year vascular surgery resident at Massachusetts General Hospital, I have cultivated a strong commitment to education, diversity, equity, and inclusion. My journey, rooted in a passion for teaching and mentorship, began as a high school science teacher and continued through medical school and residency.

Currently, I serve as Chair of Community Outreach for the Center of Diversity and Inclusion at MGH. I organize outreach programs and mentor prospective medical students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, to help diversify the pipeline of future healthcare professionals. Additionally, I work closely with leadership to develop strategies that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion across the institution.

During medical school, I served on the Medical Education Committee for four years, where I actively contributed to curriculum development and student advocacy helping to shape and enhance the educational experience of my peers. I also served as Student Body President of my medical school, a formative experience where I developed the ability to navigate complex challenges, balance competing priorities, and unite diverse perspectives to achieve common goals.

I am eager to bring my background in education and my commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion to the Association for Academic Surgery. I believe my experiences have equipped me with the insight and dedication necessary to contribute meaningfully to these committees. I am interested in helping to coordinate educational initiatives that address the needs of underrepresented groups in surgery, as well as developing programs that foster an inclusive culture within the surgical community.
