Dawn Adams

Medical Student

Washington University of Health and Science

Medical Student (n/a)

As a new member of ACS, a fourth-year medical student and third-year PhD student in Health Services with a concentration in Community Health, it is my duty as a future surgeon to remain active in performing necessary and continual research toward the development of global and community health. Keeping clinical research at the forefront as it pertains to surgical education is my goal as I prioritize creating new ways to implement new ideas that aim to improve various techniques and aid in the development of programs to further the knowledge of medical students, faculty, fellows, and residents.

My doctoral studies in health services has proven to be an asset to my understanding of the foundational elements that are required in all surgical specialties and healthcare as a whole. The extensive research that is required for the academic portion of this doctoral program in health services has strengthened my knowledge and skill in identifying the needs in community health and the planning associated with producing high-quality publications.

Being a functional member of a committee means performing my role as it best serves the mission(s) outlined by our leaders as they are assessed from relevant and critical issues as well as topics of interest. I posess the creative ability to develop programs and outline procedures that enhance and support the ethical, financial, diversity, equity, inclusion and mentorship of the Association for Academic Surgery.
