I am Dr. J A Jayalal MS, FRCS (Glasgow), FACS, PhD, serving as Professor and HOD Surgery at Kanyakumari Government Medical College, and every year, eleven postgraduates join my department for their post-graduation course.

I am interested in minimally invasive surgery and diabetic foot management. I also serve as a teacher for PG Clinic, which we conduct online every Friday from 8 pm to 10 pm All the PG classes are uploaded on YouTube and more than 3000 PGs are registered for this online course.

I am serving as an honorary member of the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgery and the Hernia Society of India, which is involved in imparting skills to scores of surgeons across the country.

The Association of Surgeons of India is the largest professional body of surgeons, and I am serving as faculty member and an executive member of ASI TN.

I am involved in shaping the careers of young surgeons, across the Commonwealth, guiding them to expand their skills, and preparing them to face competitive exams in Western countries.

Apart from the surgical field, I am involved in medical association work. I served as the National President of the largest professional body of doctors, the Indian Medical Association, in India during the year 2021, and currently, I am serving as the Secretary of the Commonwealth Medical Association, which has its headquarters in London. Through Commonwealth E-Varsity, I am trying my level best to reach out with knowledge and skills to many Commonwealth countries.
