Rebecca Snyder, Active Member

Headshot (optional)
Specialty

Surgical Oncology

Current Institution

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

Statement

I am a surgical oncologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. My research efforts concentrate on cancer care delivery, specifically disparities related to race and social determinants of health. I have been an active member of the AAS since 2017, serving on the Clinical and Health Services Research Committee, Academic Advancement Committee, and as a 2017 Class Councilor. Most recently, I have been the Chair of the CHSR committee in which I co-directed the 2023 AAS Fundamentals of Surgical Research Course. I believe strongly in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic medicine, and currently serve on the SSO DEI Advisory Board and the NCTN Diversity Taskforce in GI Oncology. The AAS has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to being an inclusive organization, and I hope to have the opportunity to support and advance these efforts as a member of the DEI committee.
