Vanderbilt University Medical Center

General Surgery

I am an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, specializing in bariatric and general surgery, with a strong focus on outcomes research for obesity treatments. Following the completion of a T32 research fellowship in trauma research, I was inspired to pursue a career in academic surgery. My academic interests lie in developing multimodal treatment strategies that integrate nutritional, pharmaceutical, and surgical therapies to optimize outcomes in obesity treatment. I aim to develop a clinical trials program investigating these multimodal approaches to obesity. Eventually, I aspire to mentor aspiring surgeon-scientists, particularly those interested in conducting clinical trials, and foster a collaborative environment that drives the development of evidence-based guidelines in surgical practice. Given my goals to explore and expand the frontiers of academic surgery, I believe serving as a committee member within the Association of Academic Surgeons (AAS) would be an invaluable opportunity to build professional relationships and further hone my leadership skills.
