Transplantation

As an early career liver and kidney transplant surgeon scientist, I am committed to the development and enrichment of the surgeon scientist pipeline. I am completing my third year as an attending surgeon at UC San Diego, with societal research funding to evaluate the impact of ex situ machine perfusion on hepatic stellate cell mediated liver allograft ischemic reperfusion injury and transplant outcomes. I am also a founding member and leader of CONCORD, a national consortium formed to evaluate the impact of in situ normothermic regional perfusion on organ transplant outcomes and have developed several national collaborations related to machine perfusion translational and clinical research.  In addition to these efforts, I aim to engage medical students and residents in basic, translational and clinical scientific research. I have served on transplant societal committees in the past and am an active and engaged committee member. I believe I am well positioned to be a productive contributor to the basic and translational committee, leadership committee and/or the academic advancement committee.
