Ellen Caparosa, Active Member
General Surgery, Colon and Rectal Surgery
Emory University Hospital
We, as surgeon scientists, are uniquely positioned to bridge the bench to the bedside. My name is Ellen Caparosa and I am starting my first job as a Colorectal Surgeon at Emory University. In training, I worked with Dr. Scott Waldman, who directs a laboratory that examines the biochemical pathways underlying intestinal tumorigenesis, focusing specifically on how to target these pathways to manage patients with colorectal cancer. During my time in his lab, I completed a T32 NIH Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship and initiated a Phase II Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial.  My research experience has been a career, and in fact a life changing opportunity for me. It would be an honor to be a member of this committee and to serve the AAS, our community, and our patients.
