Statement
As a young surgeon scientist, I have a personal investment in supporting the basic and translational research branch of the AAS. I am a clinical PGY-2 general surgery resident and current T32 research fellow at Baylor College of Medicine working in a translational laboratory. Research has been an integral part of my career since obtaining a doctoral research degree parallel to medical school. I firmly believe that serving on the basic and translational science committee of the AAS will provide a platform to advocate for aspiring surgeon scientists and represent the research resident body.
