As part of the Baylor College of Medicine Global Surgery Track, I assumed the role of global surgery trainee director. In this role I have mentored the global surgery residents and assisted them with the development of their research acumen, abstract submissions, and grant applications. Additionally, we have now taken on 8 medical students as research mentees. The purpose of this program is to facilitate the professional development of trainees through educating them about academic advancement and helping them develop the skills necessary for professional development. IT would be an absolute honor to serve on this committee and facilitate academic advancement on a national level.
