Briana Burris – You Go, Girl!

Description: ‘You go, girl.’ (2016) acrylic and oil on paper; painting by Briana June Burris. The inspiration was to paint a symbol for encouragement and optimism. The thumbs up hand gesture is a simple and universal symbol for these qualities that I strive to embody both inside and outside of the hospital. Hyperrealism is the hardest style of painting and I surprised myself with the number of colors this painting required.

Artist: Dr. Briana June Burris is a board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, who recently completed a two-year fellowship in Endoscopic Maxillofacial Surgery and Minimally Invasive Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH); after completing her residency training at Harbor-UCLA, a busy Level 1 Trauma Center serving Los Angeles, California. Dr. Burris accepted a full time faculty position as an Attending Surgeon and Associate Program Director at Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard OMFS residency training program. Dr. Burris is pursuing a career as an educator-clinician with research focused on the diagnosis and management of immune-based synovial membrane diseases; and has started working with the medical device industry towards development of more sensitive, minimally-invasive diagnostic modalities and design modifications to improve the ergonomics of surgical instrumentation. In her time outside the hospital, Dr. Burris enjoys painting, golfing, and hiking.

The artwork will be printed on high-quality art paper; dimensions are approximately 9 X 12 inches.
