AAS Councilor – Self-Nomination Form

Elections for the AAS Councilor positions are now open!

The available Councilor positions are open to Active (Membership type) AAS members whose first faculty position was obtained in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 or 2023. The term of service for Councilors elected this year will be February 2025 to February 2027. The deadline to submit your application (below) is Wednesday, October 9th. At the close of this self-nomination process the Nominating Committee will select three names from each class year from respondents who indicate that they are willing to take on this responsibility. The classes will then elect a councilor from the three persons selected by the Nominating Committee.

Councilors that sit on the Executive Council:

  • Are involved in decision-making and strategic planning for the AAS;
  • Are full voting members of the Council and therefore can have a significant input into the future directions of the organization;
  • Can bring new ideas forward, volunteer to serve on Ad Hoc Committees, and contribute to program development.

Service on the Executive Council is a significant contribution to the organization and is a great first step towards assuming a larger leadership role.
