Congratulations to the New Journal of Surgical Research Associate Editors

Associate Editor for Methodology, Informatics, and Topical Reviews

We are pleased to announce that David Schneider, MD, MS, has been selected to serve as the new Associate Editor for the Methodology, Informatics, and Topical Reviews submissions to the Journal of Surgical Research. Dr. Schneider is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and th Surgeon Informaticist at UW Health. He received a master’s degree in clinical research methods from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and is board-certified in clinical informatics through the American Board of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Schneider currently serves on the Association for Academic Surgery Committee on Technology and Communications and has previously served on the Outcomes Research Committee and Issues Committee for this organization. He has served as a member of the JSR Editorial Board since 2013.

Associate Editors for Trauma

We are pleased to announce that Weidun Alan Guo, MD, PhD, and Catherine G.Velopulos, MD, MHS, have been selected to serve as the new Associate Editors for the Trauma section of the Journal of Surgical Research.

Dr. Guo is a Professor of Surgery at SUNY-University at Buffalo. He has active programs in both basic science and clinical research in trauma and critical care-related pathophysiology. Dr. Guo has served as a member of the JSR Editorial Board since 2013 and, in this capacity, has reviewed more than 150 manuscripts for the journal.

Dr. Velopulos is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, where she serves as Vice Director of Surgical Outcomes and Applied Research, and Director of Research in the Division of Gastrointestinal, Trauma & Endocrine Surgery. She has served on the Association for Academic Surgery Publications Committee and Program Committee.

Drs. Guo and Velopolus will be taking over the Trauma section from Dr. Timothy Pritts, who has served as Associate Editor for the section since 2014. We are extremely grateful to Dr. Pritts for his invaluable contributions to JSR.

Associate Editor for Plastic Surgery and Wound Healing

We are pleased to announce that Dino Ravnic, DO, MPH, has been selected to serve as the new Associate Editor for the Plastic Surgery and Wound Healing sections of the Journal of Surgical Research. Dr. Ravnic is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Penn State College of Medicine, where he serves as Director of the Irvin S. Zubar Plastic Surgery Research Laboratory. His research focuses on stem cell biology and tissue engineering. He is a member of the Plastic Surgery Research Council and also serves as an Association for Academic Surgery Institutional Representative.

Dr. Ravnic will be taking over the Plastic Surgery and Wound Healing sections from Dr. Timothy King, who has served as Associate Editor for the section since 2014. We are truly indebted to Dr. King for his dedicated service to JSR.

Webmaster at Association for Academic Surgery
The Association for Academic Surgery was founded in 1967 and has grown significantly over the years being widely recognized as an inclusive surgical organization with over 2,500 member surgeons. Active members have traditionally held faculty appointments at a recognized academic center. Active membership is also available to senior/chief residents and fellows in approved training programs in general surgery and the surgical specialties. The impetus of the membership remains research-based academic surgery.
