TRAVEL SUPPORT TO THE AAS FALL COURSES – EARLY CAREER DEVELOPMENT COURSE OR FUNDAMENTALS OF SURGICAL RESEARCH COURSE

Fall Courses Travel Award

For Residents, Fellows, and Faculty-level attendees who by personal identification are underrepresented in surgery.

TRAVEL SUPPORT TO THE ACADEMIC SURGICAL CONGRESS (ASC)

Student Diversity Travel Award

For Medical Students who by personal identification are underrepresented and are pursuing a career in academic surgery.

Senior Medical Student Travel Award

For graduating senior Medical Students who are pursuing a career in academic surgery.

LEADERSHIP EXCHANGE

International Visiting Professorship Awards

The intent of these awards are to encourage the exchange of ideas and information about clinical, scientific and policy aspects of surgery between members of the AAS and international societies. These exchanges are open to all AAS members and applicants must have a strong history of participation in the AAS, a record of significant accomplishment in any aspect of surgical research and a current full-time academic appointment. The award is travel support for these organization’s respective annual meetings.

RESEARCH AWARDS

Trainee Research Fellowship Awards

For Residents and Fellows who have completed at least two years of postgraduate training in a surgical discipline. The AAS offers (4) $30,000 one year awards for projects in Global Surgery, Basic Science/Translational Research, Clinical Outcomes/Health Services Research and Education Research.

Joel J. Roslyn Faculty Research Award

For full-time faculty who are within five years of completion of their surgical training and have not yet attained the rank of Associate Professor. The winner will receive $50,000 for one year to support the proposed research.

Henri Ford Junior Faculty Research Award

For junior faculty members of the AAS who are considered underrepresented in the academic surgical community. The winner will receive $50,000 for one year to support the proposed research.

Geoffrey Dunn M.D. Research Award in Surgical Palliative Care

For members of the AAS within their first five years of practice following residency, including those in surgical fellowships. Proposals must focus on clinical or basic science research in the field of palliative care. Submitted proposals may also address surgical ethics, education, epidemiology, biostatistics, and health care delivery. The winner will receive $20,000 for one year to support the proposed research.
