Member Spotlight for November – Rebecca Snyder, MD

November 1, 2021 by Maria Altieri

Each month, the AAS Membership Committee presents the “Member Spotlight” – an opportunity to introduce you to a member of your association.

Rebecca Snyder MD, MPH, FACS, FSSO, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Public Health at Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.

Dr. Snyder graduated from medical school and completed her general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University, where she also obtained a Master of Public Health degree. She then went on to complete a fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Her clinical practice focuses on the treatment of pancreatic and hepatobiliary cancers, and she serves as the site-PI for several cooperative group or multi-center clinical trials. In addition to clinical trial research, her primary academic interest is focused on racial and rural disparities in cancer care delivery. She is an active member of the AAS and currently serves on the Committee for Academic Advancement as well as a 2017 Class Councilor. A former college runner, she is now an avid Peloton addict, like many AAS colleagues, and can often be seen on the leaderboard at 5 am by the name #BiggieSnyds.
