ACS Announces Deadlines for Research Awards

Below please find information on several American College of Surgeons Awards:

George H.A. Clowes, Jr., MD, FACS Memorial Research Career Development Award – This research award for a young academic general surgeon provides $45,000 per year for each of five years. Preference will be given to applicants who are working towards an NIH K08 or K23 award.  Application deadline: August 1, 2016; for Fellows or Associate Fellows. Resident Research Scholarships – Six (6) two-year research scholarships providing $30,000 per year to encourage residents to pursue careers in academic surgery. Application deadline: September 1, 2016; for Resident Members. To access the application, please click HERE.

Faculty Research Fellowships – Five (5) two-year fellowships with awards of $40,000 per year in support of young surgeons entering academic careers in surgery. Application deadline: November 2, 2016; for Fellows or Associate Fellows. To access the application, please click HERE.

About AAS Webmaster

The Association for Academic Surgery was founded in 1967 and has grown significantly over the years being widely recognized as an inclusive surgical organization with over 2,500 member surgeons.

Active members have traditionally held faculty appointments at a recognized academic center. Active membership is also available to senior/chief residents and fellows in approved training programs in general surgery and the surgical specialties. The impetus of the membership remains research-based academic surgery.
