Anthony Eze, Candidate Member
General Surgery
Duke University Medical Center
As a surgery resident at Duke University and a Captain in the US Army Reserve, I am passionate about advancing global surgery and reducing health disparities globally. Growing up in Nigeria, I saw how the lack of affordable surgical supplies limited even the most skilled surgeons and built a dependency on foreign donations. I am committed to ending this through the development of low-cost surgical supplies such as a recently developed low-cost gastroschisis silo which my team is using to reduce gastroschisis survival disparities in Sub-Saharan Africa. I wish to inspire and enable other residents and service members to consider a career dedicated to advancing global surgery.
