My application for the Ethics Committee stems from my core belief that our moral values of human behavior and it’s governing principles are the most important foundation of academic surgery.  As a clinician-scientist and a member of the Association for Academic Surgery, we are constantly reminded of the importance of academic ethics including conflict of interest, disclosures, scientific professionalism, in addition the principles of medical ethics.  Working together with our members and the leadership, it is my desire to serve on this committee to ensure transparency, resolve any conflict of interest, and to update societal guidelines to reflect the ethical values of the AAS.
