It would be an honor to serve on the AAS Education Committee. Most of my time at Michigan is devoted to medical education including serving as the Clerkship Director and Director of Medical Student Programs in our Office of Health Equity & Inclusion. My research focuses on increasing resident autonomy in the operating room and understanding bias in trainee assessment/evaluation.
I attribute my passion for learning to growing up in Ghana, where education was a highly sought-after commodity which most of my family did not have the pleasure of. I have directly benefited from training and now working in institutions where education is prioritized. I as such welcome the opportunity to give back through the AAS Education Committee, to ensure that our efforts are increasingly accessible to a diverse pool of learners across the continuum of training and surgical practice.
