Like many of you, I benefited from strong AAS/SUS mentorship and sponsorship throughout my training and early career. As a pediatric surgeon, associate program director for general surgery at LSU New Orleans, site director, and clinical research mentor for students and residents, I am heavily involved in education at our institution. In these 2 years that I have been back as faculty, I have developed a formal resident career curriculum and advocacy/mentorship program, with a focus on improving the resident experience. With this experience, I look forward to serving on the committee and giving back to the AAS.
