Abdominal Transplantation
University of California Davis
I am an abdominal transplant surgeon entering my second year of practice. I am developing a research program that involves cell therapies, organ preservation technologies, and unraveling age-related changes in allograft function. My education efforts include training students and residents in research and clinical care. Having been the beneficiary of surgical society grants and outstanding mentorship during training, I entered faculty practice passionate about research and education. As a new surgeon-scientist I am acutely aware of the challenges in developing a research program, mentoring trainees, and encouraging and supporting high quality science and clinical care. It is my hope to contribute to the Basic and Translational Science or Education Committee through my perspective as a new surgeon-scientist. Specifically, I look forward to developing pathways to encourage trainee engagement and support in research, opportunities for evaluating and improving how we teach, and tools to support new faculty in these challenging endeavors.
