Statement

I am a surgical oncologist at UT Health San Antonio. I have been a member of AAS since I was a research resident. I currently sit on the Committee on Diversity Issues and Women in Surgery Committee for the American College of Surgeons. I previously served on the Advancement of Women and Minorities Committee and the Diversity Advisory Council at the UT Health San Antonio.

I came to the US on a student visa with broken English with no family or friends in the country. As an immigrant and having experienced discrimination firsthand, I know the importance of promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment.  I would like to foster and inspire diverse and inclusive generation of young academic surgeons through AAS.  I would like to serve on the DEI committee for the AAS and I have the unique background, perspective, perseverance, and organizational skills to contribute to the committee.
