Allison Martin, Candidate Member

Surgical Oncology/HPB
University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
I am currently a second-year fellow in Complex General Surgical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. I previously served AAS as a member of the Global Affairs committee from 2017-19. I currently serve as Chair of the MD Anderson Housestaff Senate (HSS) Diversity and Disparities Subcommittee and as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Administrative Fellow for the Department of Surgical Oncology. As a general surgery resident at the University of Virginia (UVA), I was a founding member of the Housestaff Council for Diversity and Inclusion, helping to establish this organization as a leader in trainee opportunities for career and DEI leadership development, and community service. My primary focus is community engagement and advocacy in underserved communities and enhancement of research opportunities that support academic approaches to diversity and eliminating disparities. I would be privileged to serve the AAS as a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee.
