I am a colorectal surgeon and health services researcher interested in understanding and improving care for vulnerable populations with cancer. As an RWJ Clinical Scholar, I received broad training in health services research, but focused primarily on hospital-level quality assessment and improvement. After falling in love with the field, I completed my Ph.D. in Health Policy during my surgical residency, writing my dissertation on the role of quality improvement collaboratives in surgical quality improvement. My current research focuses on how public insurance programs influence access and quality for low-income patients with cancer, in particular how Medicaid's transition to managed care has impacted high-risk populations. I am new to AAS and excited to connect and collaborate with academic surgeons interested in improving the quality and scope of surgical health services research. I would be honored to serve and look forward to meeting everyone at ASC! Thank you for your consideration.
