Election to Officer Position:
Each year, election is held for the President-elect. Every other year, elections are held for the Secretary and the Recorder, each of which are two-year positions. Every third year, the Treasurer is elected. In 2010, the offices of Secretary, Treasurer and President-elect will be elected. Interested members can also contact current officers directly with any specific questions regarding the responsibilities of these positions.
Active members who would like to serve as an Officer should send a detailed C.V. plus a statement of interest to the AAS office by 11:00 PM CST on January 17, 2010; the office will forward the necessary information to the Nominating Committee. While prior service in the AAS and/or demonstration of a commitment to the organization by meeting attendance is strongly considered in the selection criteria, they are not an absolute requirement.

1. Statements must be submitted in MS Word format or as a .pdf and be no longer than 1/2 page.
2. Name your statement as follows: YourNamePosition2010.doc or .pdf
3. Make sure that you include a record of previous service to the AAS and/or attendance at the annual meeting and courses.
PLEASE NOTE: SELF-NOMINATION IS MANDATORY. THIS INDICATES THAT THE CANDIDATE IS ELIGIBLE FOR NOMINATION AND IS WILLING TO ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OFFICE.
