Call for Applications for the 2012 AAS/Taiwan Surgical Association International Visiting Professorship Award

The AAS and the Taiwan Surgical Association (TSA) are pleased to announce the 2012 International Visiting Professorship Award. The purpose of this award is to encourage the exchange of ideas and information about clinical, scientific and policy aspects of surgery between members of the AAS and members of the TSA.

The recipient of the fifth annual AAS/TSA International Visiting Professorship Award will receive support to travel to Taipei, Taiwan, to attend the 71st Annual Meeting of the TSA on March 24-25, 2012. The awardee will give a presentation at the TSA meeting.

The recipient must be willing to assist in hosting the visitor from the TSA, who will be attending the Academic Surgical Congress in Las Vegas, Nevada, in February 2012.

Requirements
This award is available to active members of the AAS who meet the following requirements:

  • A strong history of participation in the AAS
  • A record of significant accomplishment in any aspect of surgical research
  • A current full-time academic appointment

Submission of Applications
Members who wish to apply for this award should submit a letter of interest and an NIH biosketch to Christina Kasendorf, the Executive Director of the AAS (christina@aasurg.org). The deadline for RECEIPT of applications is 11:59 pm PST on September 12, 2011. Within the letter of interest, applicants should express why they would like to participate in the International Visiting Professorship program, as well as what they hope to achieve during the visit. Applicants should also summarize their history of service in the AAS. Letters should not exceed 2 pages in length.
